Novation SNX and Novation SN2X plug-ins has been updated to new version. Novation SNX is now at v1.0.9 and Novation SN2X is at v1.1.2
We brought in a new feature set for both plug-ins and they share the same change log in that manner.
[New] Request Interval has a new range of 50ms, 75ms, 100ms, 150ms, 200ms, 300ms, 400ms, 500ms. Default is set to 100ms. When writing data to hardware, it is suggested to use 150ms interval (by us).
[New] Patch & Bank conflict warning system. This means that when ever parts share same bank & program number info, it will warn the user of such action. This function is great when data is being recalled to synth since it would overwrite the buffer with another parts data. *
[New] Bank and Patch Number display. Browse hardware banks / patches OR Librarian banks / patches from the main UI. **
[New] Browse Banks and Patches from Plug-in GUI without entering Librarian view. If Library Control is toggled on, user can browse banks and patches of librarian without having to enter the librarian itself. ***
[New] Saving mechanism update for GUI data to librarian has been improved. Now there is a single button in Librarian view to store GUI data on currently selected slot of Librarian view. User still has to Overwrite the bank or Save As under a new bank name for safety measure. ****
[New] Open Data Folder menu item in Patch Librarian Bank Edit menu. *****
[New] Multi level subfolder support for Patch Librarian.
[New] Improved MIDI and SysEx handling.
[New] Auto-save MIDI I/O. MIDI input and output are stored into text file when they are initially set. Next time the plug-in is inserted, these ports will be recalled and global data will be requested from the hardware. *****
[Fixed] Resolved issue where plugin would fail to pass scanning process and did not appear in the DAW.
[Other] Altered some button colors in Librarian to draw in more attention.
[Other] Framework updates to make everything work smoother.
Lets talk about the new features a bit;
Bank Conflict Warning System
(*) Patch & Bank conflict warning systems ensure that you as a user won’t have two of the same presets chosen at the same time. This would cause conflicts when editing another part while the other part has the same presets chosen as well. Of course, there are synths which can deal this in good fashion by providing a good temp memory for editing patches, but we just want to make sure same combination of banks and programs won’t be used. The popup is a bit annoying (maybe) but it can save your work!
Better UX Controls
(**) As seen in the image above, we have new bank and program number display which will indicate the currently selected bank and program per part. These values change when you change part giving you faster access to your presets.
Clicking the bank letter, will popup a bank selection list and..
Clicking the program number will popup a program selector list in segments of 10 program each.
When “Request Data On Bank / Program Change” is active and you make program change via your master keyboard, plugin menu or Novation hardware, plug-in will automatically pull the current program data to the user interface.
When “Library Control On Program Change” is active, plugin will send program from patch librarians corresponding slot to the Novation hardware while updating the user interface as well.
Note, that while the “Library Control On Program Change” is on, you can click on bank letter to popup a list of your Patch Librarian banks in and quickly choose the bank you want to browse. Same applies to program number menu, except you can see the program names as well :-) Few images below to demonstrate how it looks!
(***) Solid arrow shows the Library Control On Program Change is toggled on. Box indicates the bank selection menu trigger and dashed arrows indicate banks chosen.

Save Part to Slot
(****) Librarian feature set has been improved to make saving process a bit faster on your custom edits. Now user can quickly request current part edit data to the librarian and work it from there.
Simply enter Patch Librarian, choose a bank you want to modify & a program slot and click “Save Data to Slot”. This will request current user interface data to the currently selected librarian lost! For safety measures, user still has to Overwrite the bank or choose Save As.. in order to store the data. Two clicks less ;-)
Works in Performance and Program mode.
Open Data Folder
(*****) Open Data Folder option in Patch Librarian Bank Edit menu allows user to open the plugin data directory quickly. This way user can paste the license.key in the root folder and/or paste program & performance banks in the Patches folder. As we now have multi-level subfolder support, user can create folders according to their needs and put the banks in them.
Click Bank Edit menu item
Choose Open Data Folder near the bottom and it will open a new finder (macOS) or explorer (Windows) window on your OS.
Upper list “right click” functions
On top of everything about the update, I just wanted to drop a line about the right click menu on the upper program/performance/pattern selection list. As with version 1.1.2, we made some cosmetic changes to understand better what each function does. Get DATA from…
Plug-in (active patch) * this will request either a Program or Performance from plug-in user interface to the currently selected slot. Note in program mode that part selection matters too!
Hardware Edit Buffer * this will request buffer program or performance from hardware to librarian slot. Note in program mode that part selection matters too!
Hardware by Prog No. * this will request Program or Performance defined by the user into the librarian slot. If you request data from slot 042 and you have Bank C selected on the new display, this will get Program number 042 from Bank C from your synth.
That sums up the update and these features has been slowly rolling into our other plug-ins as well. Next in the line are VirusHC and JP-80×0!
You can download the DEMO version from the product pages:
We are getting some questions about the macOS Catalina support on our products and I’m happy to tell that 9 products comply with macOS Catalina at the moment. The two which are not yet macOS Catalina compatible are Roland JP-80×0 and Access VirusHC plug-ins.
Important thing to note about the macOS Catalina change is that new location for plug-in license and patch data has been changed. New location is at /Library/Audio/Presets/Mystery Islands Music/(plugin name)/ – You have to manually copy and paste your existing data to the new location in order to validate the license and to have access to your favorite presets.
About the JP-80×0 and VirusHC updates: JP-80×0 is not too bad to update but VirusHC has old frameworks which need to be re-written and I’ve started that process already. In fact, we are going to bring 5 new plug-in models for VirusHC along with “legacy” HC version so you can return to your projects with ease. So what does new plug-ins mean? Well, we are making new plug-in models for each of the Virus-series.
VirusHC A – works with the first generation Virus model VirusHC B – works with Virus B, KB, Indigo, Rack and Classic VirusHC C – works with Virus C, KC, Indigo 2, Rack XL VirusHC TI – works with TI 1 & 2 VirusHC Snow – works with TI Snow
New updates will also include new user interfaces / skins; virus a-b, virus c, virus ti, classic, legacy, white and dark star + indigo! New frameworks design, resizable user interface and so on.. Also, individual plug-ins will make it easier to store your settings in it like default MIDI I/O for example.
Anyway, JP-80×0 and VirusHC updates are on the way and we are looking forward to publish them out within one month! :-)
We have been extremely busy over the December / January and we haven’t had a chance to post recent update news about our products. Well, this post will change things around!
Before we go to details of product updates, Novaline Music has started to provide help in the forums for Plug-in related questions etc. We have a team of dedicated beta-testers who will check our plug-ins through & reports the found issues back to us. That being said, if you find a bug, please post a bug report in the forums.
Right, moving on. So, below is a short summary of the plug-in update stages to-date. We are going to push another update for microKxR today, but it does not affect to workflow – just cosmetic changes :-)
What we’ve done so far for the plug-ins above: Librarian Search functions are built in and working. GUI is resize-able in all plug-ins. And of course some major bug fixes but you’ll have to read the change logs for yourself! MS2KxR got a facelift with two different GUIs and entirely re-worked framework. We think the MS2KxR plug-in looks gorgeous! There is additional 20€ off from MS2KxR until Feb 1st 2019 so go and get it.
Product updates in the works!
We are working at the moment to deliver next updates for Clavia NL2xR, Waldorf qXr and Waldorf microQxR plug-ins. These plug-ins will have the latest framework technology we have in our plug-ins, like search functions in librarian and GUI resize etc. There has been a lot bugs reported, so we are doing our absolute best to deliver better product version asap.
Speaking of Waldorf plug-ins, we are also going to provide our classy plug-in for Waldorf Pulse / Pulse+ models later this year (1st generation Pulse models – Pulse 2 plug-in might land later on). There is one other surprise in our sleeves, but we are holding it until the curtain drops down!
As we have announced earlier, Clavia NL3xR plug-in will be finished this year and also a plug-in for Yamaha AN200 and maybe Korg Radias. If we get things done right, we will get plug-ins ready for Yamaha AN1x and Yamaha PLG150-AN as well!
Seraphic Music is going to release a brand new soundset for Waldorf Q-series. It sounds stunning and it is called “Q-Rious Soundset for Waldorf Q“. Even though it says Waldorf Q, you are able to import the soundset with bloX or microQxR plug-ins and enjoy the Q-sounds with your microQ or blofeld hardware. The sounds will not be exactly the same as we know by now, but they are pretty darn close. Check the demo below!
NAMM Show 2019 & Special Deal towards Waldorf plug-ins
NAMM 2019 is here again and we would love to be there too. Unfortunately we are tied up here in the office to develop and improve our products. If you are looking to get Waldorf bloX, qXr or microQxR plug-ins, now is your chance to save 33% on the selected topics. Just add the plug-in to cart and apply coupon ‘ nammshow2019 ‘ in cart page to get 33% off. Why Waldorf plug-ins? Well, our surprise is heavily related to Waldorf, hence the discount.
Thats all for now, we will publish another post soon where our surprise will be revealed so stay tuned ;-)
Novation SNX has been updated to version 1.0.2. This is a big update for the SNX AudioUnit & VST Editor / Librarian plug-in, which is shipped with Library improvements, new features and bug fixes.
You can read more about the updates from the change log page. This update might not be compatible with previous version of the plug-in, but it is surely better in overall functions than previous version.
Customers can head down to downloads PAGE and download the latest version from there. Demo version is available at the product page and 32-bit installers are under downloads TAB.
As always, thanks for the support and keep posting the bugs to our forums. We are gonna take a look at each and every one of those.
Last week has been quite hectic with all non-work related stuff, but we are back now :)
Summer is almost gone and we are behind our schedule due to computer breakdown and server re-work. Luckily we have some great news for Novation Nova (1st generation) and Novation Supernova (1st generation) owners: Novation SNX Update v0.9.8 is available right now.
If for some reason the product is not listed / available, please contact us.
Here is what we have done:

We are aware of one bug at the moment and that is: if you click the program – or program + buttons on the quick mixer, program change takes effect only on the selected part! We will fix this soon and have it updated when Randomizer is included.
We did add some topics on the forums about the install procedure for macOS and Windows users, so be sure to check them out if needed. We have a tutorial how to setup SNX for Studio One 4 in Windows and macOS, but these topics will be available early next week.
While we were working with the NovaX plug-in, we thought Nova desktop and Nova II models are almost the same. That was not the case. Nova desktop and Supernova Rack seemed to share a lot same features in between. So, we took the NovaX plug-in, re-worked the code to match with Nova & Supernova data and SNX plug-in was born. In order to avoid confusion, we had to rename the plug-in.
v0.9.7 BETA version is available, which can be found from downloads page.
If you had pre-ordered the NovaX plug-in for Nova II model, let us know and we will change your order to SN2X plug-in, which is fully compatible with Nova II.
